CHAPTER 18

The sun was setting on the desert as the darkly dressed threesome pulled the saucer from the dirt. They had used a chain and a flatbed truck. As the men stared at the small craft sitting on the flatbed, an anxious Otis stumbled. He rolled down the hill he and the others were silently traversing. The UFO was where his tumble ended—with him face down in the dirt next to the flatbed. He lifted his dirty face toward the men. They weren’t happy that Otis had crashed their crash site party. All the men froze. They stared at the fumbling intruder with the ‘where did he come from look’.

Otis slowly stood. He brushed himself off then glanced at the UFO. He then looked at the men who just pulled it from the dirt. Otis nervously told them: “Hey, guys. I see you found something.”

Before Otis could say another word, a ramp to the craft dropped open. It fell on the bald UFO hunter’s head. Knocked him out cold. He laid next to the spaceship’s opened ramp dreaming of Greys serving him hamburgers.

The action made the three goons back away from the unknown vehicle. About this time Finn and crew appeared on the scene. The two opposing groups glared at each other from opposite sides of the saucer’s ramp. Everyone stood ready but not sure what to do next. Without notice, a horseshoe slid down the ramp like a prize at a kid’s arcade. It landed exactly in the middle of the two groups.

“The newest shoe,” Dale exclaimed. “We need the three shoes that are here.”

“Maybe, if we ask them nicely, they’ll hand them over,” Jackie said softly while hiding her electric shocker behind her back.

“We could tell them Otis is an alien and trade him for the horseshoes,” Finn suggested.

Dale and Jackie gave Finn a questionable look.

“I was kidding,” Finn claimed loudly.

Both teams were at a standstill moment. Both had their sights on the fourth horseshoe.

“We need that shoe,” Dale declared just above a whisper. His teammates nodded in agreement. “Jackie, you go for the shoe. Finn and I will keep the others busy.”

“What do I do once I get the shoe?” she asked, turning on her shock device.

“Run for the van. We’ll meet you there.”

Before Finn and company could make their move on the treasured horseshoe, the Gnome Cowboy popped out of the top of the saucer shaped ship. His dress was immaculate. The large hat glowed like a light bulb. Not too bright but enough to illuminate the immediate area near the craft. His large sunglasses had LEDs flashing on the frame. Suddenly, his banjo appeared. His fingers danced on the instrument. Everyone, including the goons, were clapping, and stomping their feet.

“What is happening to me?” queried Jackie. “I want to dance!”

Both teams were suddenly standing in front of each other. Each had a partner. Finn and crew each stood in front of a goon. The goons were now their dance partners. The Gnome Cowboy provided the music.
